ASA Official softball rules and MSF JO Guide Book shall apply for league play with these additions and exceptions:
1. There shall be no more than twenty (20) players on a team roster without the approval of the officers of the CRF. Team official rosters must be sent to the CRF League Coordinator by the first game of the season to be eligible for State Tournament participation. The official roster is the ASA-MSF Player Waiver, Release of Liability, Indemnification Agreement and Official Team Roster 3-part form. All three copies must be sent to the CRF League Director. No player can be added to the roster after it is submitted to MSF. No pick-up players are allowed. If a team cannot field enough players from its roster, players from a junior team may be moved up to form a complete team. Such players shall be taken off the roster when regular rostered players are available. Player's age is determined as their age on December 31st of the previous year.
2. Any player playing below their age level is
ineligible for the CRF qualifier tournament. If the overage player participates in the CRF tournament, the team shall forfeit any games said player participates in. Overage players may not pitch.
3. Regarding rainouts, both teams have one week from the game date to agree on a makeup date. If a team cancels, they forfeit unless both teams agree to reschedule and a date is set.
4. A five run limit per inning for the first four innings is used in CRF 14’s and 12’s league games during the regular season only.
5. If a team is behind by ten runs after five innings the game is complete. In the case of rain or darkness (umpire's discretion), a game is complete after three innings unless home team is leading in the bottom of the third. A suspended game is continued from the point at which it was stopped, including score, inning, outs, base runners and count on batter. Batting order and field positions are at the discretion of the coach, but should be maintained as close as possible to that of the suspended game.
6. Good sportsmanlike behavior is required at ALL times. There will be NO HARASSMENT of the opposing team either by coaches, team members or team fans. Cheers, jeers or comments directed at the opposing team with the intention of harassment will NOT be tolerated. Coaches are to control this behavior. Harassment will be ruled as interference if the harassing team is batting or as an illegal pitch if on defense. Umpire may eject person responsible for the harassment. Teams shall form a line after the game and shake hands.
7. There shall be no smoking by coaches on or near the bench, or on the playing field. A player or coach who has consumed alcoholic beverages or drugs prior to participating in a game will be suspended from the CRF league.
8. During the game, players must stay in the bench area when not in the field, batting, on-deck, base running or coaching a base. Coaches are responsible for enforcement.
9. CRF does NOT require that an offensive player to slide to avoid contact with a defensive player having possession of the ball or about to play the ball. The offensive player is required to avoid VIOLENT contact with the defensive player by stopping, going under or over, running around the defensive player within the defined base path or sliding.
10. Home team will furnish the umpire. Umpires should attend an ASA or other umpiring clinic and must be ASA sanctioned in 18’s and 16’s. It is also recommended at the 14’s & 12’s. If no umpire shows up, the head coaches shall mutually agree on how the umpiring is done.
11. All players MUST wear helmets with chin straps properly fastened when batting, running bases or coaching a base.
12. Only coaches or managers are allowed to talk to the umpire concerning umpire decisions or calls.
13. Any player warming-up a pitcher must wear a catching helmet (two ear flaps) with face mask and throat guard. Catcher MUST wear a catching helmet with face mask and throat guard, a chest protector and shin guards during the game.
14. Only one person may coach on each baseline. Adults or players may coach a base. If a player coaches, a helmet must be worn.
15. The home team will furnish one new ball, as supplied by the CRF league, and one good used ball. Only 12 inch optic yellow red stitched balls are to be used.
16. Home team scorebook is the official book. It is suggested that the score be checked between teams after each half inning.
17. Base and pitching distances are 60 feet between bases and 40 feet between pitching rubber and home plate. If an error in field setup is found, it is to be corrected immediately and play continues.
18. Any team more than 1/2 hour late will forfeit the game. Failure to show without notice is a forfeit.
19. At the time limit, complete the current inning. If teams are tied, the game will be declared a regulation tie game.
20. Rules for upper and lower divisions are as follows:
Division "A" Only

2. Base runners may leave their base when ball leaves the pitcher’s hand but must return immediately to the base after the pitch passes home plate unless ball is put in play. Runner may not take additional bases on a walk.
PLAYERS PARTICIPATING BELOW THEIR AGE LEVEL
The following conditions will apply to players, teams of said players and the communities having said players.
1. Player participating below their age level as defined by ASA/MSF rules will NOT be permitted to play in MSF sanctioned tournaments including the State tournament. Rule is the player’s age on December 31, 2007. Overage players may not pitch in league play.
2. Teams having one or more overage players will not be sent to the State Tournament unless the team qualifies without these players at the CRF qualifier tournament. If the team plays with ineligible players, it will forfeit all games played in the tournament.
3. Teams having one or more overage players must clearly identify these players on the team roster by marks at each end of the registration line for the player.
4. Communities having one or more overage players MUST email the CRF league director identifying the player(s), stating that the community understands that these players are ineligible for play outside the CRF regular season games and that teams having these players may be barred from the State Tournament by the league director without regard to their record. The e-mail is due to the league director by the first week of June. Failure to comply will result in a community's team(s) at the affected age level being barred from the CRF tournament.
